About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was a tad difficult to make. I was trying to figure how to go about the bodice which in the end I used a corset as a base. I used stretch cotton to cover the corset and some lace as well. For the skirt and cape I used brown wool. As for the burnings within the cape if they're noticeable I used a lighter (please don't try this at home without parental vision/help if 17 and younger). It gave it an antique look apart from stopping the fray of fabric. As for the fur I used an old teddy bear. May that poor stuffed bear rest in peace. The sash was made of olive green velvet and the right armlet out of brown pleather. The left sleeve was made from off-white broadcloth cotton. As far as sewing on the cloth to the corset, I hand sewed the lace and other bits of fabric while machine sewing the main fabric (off-white stretch cotton). (edit 9/27/2010) I don't know the proper term for this costume whether it is nomad or warrior since only the creator would know as it is his design. Either way I love this costume.
