About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was a last minute exciting decision. The jacket was purchased at a thrift store for $3!! Awesome find! I think the buttons ended up being more expensive than the jacket I was putting them on! lol 7 Gold buttons hand sewn on. I had a hard time finding the right color for the skirt since most of the greys I looked at were more warm colors apposed to cool that I was looking for. I went with the least warm that I could find. Wig came as is from cosworx. Great color and shape so I didn't have to do big alterations that I am used to, which was a nice relief. The thing that took the most effort and time was the "gita" (guitar: Les Paul) replica I made with my mom. It was great to have her help due to time restrains before Otakon. I chose to do this costume 5 days before going. The base was made of foam board, cardboard and real guitar parts and love. ^__^ I used metallic wrapping paper for the gold and red parts and a nice clear sealer to make sure everything was sealed together. Best part it's not as heavy as a real guitar, so it's easy to carry around all day with me! <3
Personal Thoughts:
I've been watching K-on since April of 2009 and am enjoying the second season even more than the first and I loved the first! It's one of the few shows I keep up with because I love it that much! Yui is sooo me! Her strange dreams, obsession with sweets, and her absent-mindedness, when I watch I always can predict what she is going to do or say, based off of what I would do or say. I'm a k-on addict, what can I say. If you like slice of life shows like me (lucky star, azumanga daioh) than K-on surely will be a show you should watch!
