About this Costume
Construction Details:

A quick surprise costume that I made for AnimeNext. I thought it would be fun to do a cowgirl costume sometime and this is based on Sarah’s costume from the flashback in the episode where her friend Andy tried to convince her to leave Kaleido Stage and join his record label.

The vest and skirt were the only pieces I made from scratch. Both are red faux suede with ultrasuede ribbon for the trim. The trim probably took more time than anything else since I couldn’t find more suitable trims that I liked. I couldn’t find a pink suede or leather fringe in any of the stores I checked so I turned the ribbon into fringe by slowly sewing down strands next to each other on the vest and trimming them to the same length. For the trim on the skirt, I braided six strands of the ribbon together and sewed it to the skirt by hand. I left unbraided sections on each end so that I could tie them together into the big pink tassel. The red tassels along the bottom of the skirt were pieces of a braided ultrasuede trim that I unbraided and knotted into tassels.

The boots were a brown pair that I found for $10 and painted white with Angelus leather paint. (This costume can mostly be blamed on me finding the boots for so cheap. >_>;) The hat and black top were just bought and I reused the wig from my earlier Sarah costume although her hair was supposed to be shorter with this costume. ( I didn’t want to buy a new wig for something so simple. >_>;)

Personal Thoughts:
I think this is the tiniest costume I’ve ever made. o_o; Although I made it less tiny that it was actually supposed to be by using a tank top instead of a bikini top since I didn’t want my stomach showing. It was kind of funny seeing some of my friends’ reactions when they saw this at the con since I hadn’t told anyone I was making this and I’m usually buried under yards of fabric when I cosplay. XD;
