About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume is so deceptively simple it's ridiculous. Seriously. Due to ridiculous time constraints, the majority of it came into being in about 2 1/2 days.

No patterns were involved in the making of this costume - everything was pretty much winged/eye-balled.

The bikini top was the hardest. X__X I wanted it to be made out of pvc to fit with the rest of the fabric (and the overall ridiculousness of Gurren Lagann), but even 4 way stretch pvc doesn't sit like a normal spandex bikini, so it was a really hard fit. The red flame detailing is red pvc cutouts that were heat 'n bonded on, then topstitched so that they would stay in place.

I was really intimidated by the bootcovers for some reason, but they were actually pretty easy. They're made of white pvc and lined with heavy duty interfacing so that they keep their shape and stand up by themselves. The base shoe is the ugliest pair of $5 Walmart grandma shoes that I've ever seen. BUT THATS OKAY BECAUSE YOU CAN'T TELL! :DDD The zipper detailing is craft foam.
