Construction Details:

In 2003 my dad and I decided it would be cool to make a sled of one of the elfin boats from Fellowship of the Ring for the cardboard sled race at the ski resort we go to. My mom and I collected these cloths from thrift shops and other places and she altered them a bit to create a Samwise costume (as well as the Frodo and Aragorn costumes). My dad dressed as Aragorn and my cousin was Frodo. We won first prize for creativity.

Personal Thoughts:

I didn't originally list this costume here because it was from before my official start cosplaying at conventions, however it was also my first major costuming endeavor outside of Halloween and my first professional quality wig purchase (I've got more than I can count now! LOL). I'm really proud of how it came out, even still, except for how the wig behaved badly when I wore it for a dress up day at school (second picture). Oh well. It still was fun to wear.
