About this Costume
Construction Details:
This dress was a huge undertaking! I started it about 5 years ago during my freshman year in high school and worked on it on and off until the last 6 months when it was decided that we'd have a Parakiss group at Anime Boston 2010. The wig was originally a black enchantment from Amphigory that I added extensions to and french braided. I then used 6 packages of extensions for the braids and wove them into the wig. I sewed on hand dyed roses directly onto the wig and onto a fabric choker around my neck. The bodice is lined and has bonin in it and zips up the back (needs a little work before AB) The skirt is built over a cage skirt that I made from steel boning. The skirt has a tulle petticoat that I made and it will have another wedding petticoat added to it for AB. The lace petticoat has about 70 yards of lace on it. It's very heavy!! The overskirt zips up the side and has gathered chiffon that I made. The train is sewn directly onto the skirt and the hiproll is attached to the bodice. The gloves were made using the vogue glove pattern with alterations to accomodate my long fingers, haha. The shoes were originally a pair of ankle boots that I cut up and covered with fabric, beads and a beaded butterfly. I also made the ring from wire and beads. The earrings were made by taking apart various hair clips and such and putting them back together. I beaded all the flowers with tiny pearl beads in two sizes. They took about 3-4 hours for each one. There are 67 flowers total on the dress!
