About this Costume
Construction Details:
Since my boyfriend at the time was cosplaying Reno, I decided for AUSA that I wanted to do a Final Fantasy VII costume so that we could cosplay together. I chose to cosplay Elena so we could both be Turks. I've always loved the Turks, Elena especially since she's the one I can identify with the most. Anyways this character also seemed a good choice because it is a very simple costume. This was important since I had waited to decide I wanted a second cosplay until 4 days before the convention!

I already had black slacks, black dress shoes, and a white button-down blouse, so I purchased a fitted black blazer and a black tie to complete the costume. The real issue with putting the costume together at such short notice was finding a wig...

I ended up having to purchase a long, pale blond wig from a local wig shop, which I quickly realized when I got home was EXTREMELY heat resistant, and could not be styled AT ALL. So it ended up looking like a choppy mess for AUSA and I am SO EMABRASSED that I even wore it in public! >_<

For Katsucon, I got a different blond wig in a more flattering color, and I took my time styling it to make sure it was as accurate as possible. I am not completely satisfied yet, and am hoping to improve on it a bit more, mostly so it will be even more accurate, and also look decent with a pair of clip on ponytails... because I will be cosplaying the Before Crisis version of Elena very very soon! (I'm so excited! ^^)

As for the jacket... I keep meaning to sew a zipper closure into it, but haven't gotten around to it yet. It is actually very flattering on me, I think, so I've been putting off the zipper so I can wear it for non-cosplay stuff... it IS going to happen though... someday!
