So. Funny story. I set out to make a period pirate costume that was 100% accurate to the time. Since there were no official art out with Pirate England in them yet, I was pretty much free to do whatever I felt. Then he drew official art, and the art...pretty much looks exactly like what I made. What a coincidence. This costume took the better part of 6 months, close to $600 dollars, and most of my remaining sanity. I hand-crocheted the beads, and made everything on the considerable amount of layers you cannot see, save my boots and the hat. My sword, she is even sharp. This costume is one of the things I am most proud of. Yarr.

Personal Thoughts:

I've gotten a new wig for this costume, and it was originally meant to be worn at Anime Boston's masquerade ball, so I also have a hand-made mask to go with it. This costume also started a running joke between Judy and I, as I was drunk the first time she photographed it at Yaoicon and thought it'd be hilarious to hide in the grass like a creeper. Since then, every time Judy photographs me, we take a picture behind some kind of foliage. Eventually, we will have plants from all over the world, and my domination will be complete.
