Construction Details:

After years of my friend Spooky telling me to watch this show, I finally took his advice and gave it a go. It's fun and addicting! I've also been looking for a "bright" costume to do (because yellow and blue spandex isn't bright enough!) and fell in love with Vivi. I love her blue hair and her demeanor, which is completely opposite of mine. The costume was put together rather quickly. The skirt is made of of 6 gores, based on a bellydance skirt pattern I found online (and have used with great success in the past). It's also lined, to add extra floofiness. The top and skirt drape are from a purple stretch twill, with pink cotton for the trim. I used Head and Bond for the applique work, but it doesn't hold down very well, and will go back and either satin stitch or fabric tack it done for the future. The sheer white coat is a poly-chiffon I got on sale, and I chose to change up the trim on the skirt and add it to the bottom of the coat as well. The wig was fun. It was originally some monstrosity I got off of ebay and never wore, due to it being a puff monster wig of doom. I found information about how to straighten a wig with hot water and... I have to say it was a success!
