Construction Details:

I started the base (jacket) of this costume in February'09 and really just finished it to exactly what I want it to be before Anime Expo'10. This costume has been a pain since I began it. Many times I wanted to do the Mexican hat dance on top of it and walk away. The OZ uniforms simply cannot exist in real life. All the pattern redrafting and shifting that I did (with the help of a friend), I was seriously seeing pattern lines in my sleep for a week. I knew that when I began the costume, I did not want a fire engine red fabric for the jacket, but something a bit more muted. I found this red suiting fabric that had a rich tone to it, but still understated. The jacket is fully lined in a white fabric and the cuffs are made from a black suiting to match the vest. The vest is made from a black suiting and lined with a traditional lining fabric. The buttons are from a store in New York and are amazing. I found them online at a store called Cute as a Button. The epaulets are made from craftfoam and gold fringe. The trim on the cuffs and vest are a muted gold to match the fringe. I like it better than the metallic trim I had on there previously. The pants are Navy issue, but I got them from a surplus store before Sakura-Con 2009. The boots I bought from Coswrox, along with the wig.

Styling Notes

Took an Alica XXL and feathered the longer bangs to create Zechs' layered bang look. Left the rest as is.
