As a longtime fan of the original Speed Racer, I jumped at the chance to attend the IMAX movie premiere in costume. We threw together three ultra-ghetto costumes (our materials included scavenged and Goodwill clothing, scrap fabric, craft glue, paint and electrical tape). I cosplayed my favorite character, Racer X -- largely due to an unwillingness by the others to appear in public in white Spandex -- Melchoir played Speed, and Shinteetah portrayed a frighteningly chipper Trixie.
