About this Costume

The vest is a black-on-black suede extended a bit on the shoulders and side seams to not only give it a slightly more period look, but also because I only had so much of that fabric. The back and lining is a black stretch suede. Pattern was modified so I could put some loops in the middle since his buttons are in the middle (seriously, what). All appliques were hand drawn on some muslin then cut out of interfaced velvet and satin-stitched onto the vest and coat. The coat is a fancy thick taffeta that while at first I thought was too shiny, actually compliments the flatness of the suedes to my liking. And it lays PERFECTLY and holds its shape. it's wonderful. I love it. Also I love 40% off Joann coupons. Pattern was modified for shape, darts were added in the back, collar was hand-patterend and I'M A VAMPIRE RAAAAWR. Cuffs are elastic, I'm actually wearing a turtleneck underneath! Cravat is.. a cravat. It's floofy. Boots are boots, but the cuffs are removable cylinders with buttons sewn on (thank you Koi!!). Also special thanks to Windofthestars for wigfloofing and trimming and bang arranging. I love you~
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'm so proud to be part of this beautiful group! I mentioned months and months ago to Teca if they needed a Lelouch..... Cue to many many months later and I'm in the middle of moving aaaaall my life into a much smaller apartment and oh hey, NDK is this weekend. So I pack up my fabric and fly out to Colorado. Two and a half days later, I've got probably one of my favourite costumes I've made, and one that I seriously pulled out all the stops for techniques and whatnot.
