Construction Details:

This costume was a LOT of work. In the artbook picture, kanoe is pictured wearing this black-blue dress that has been torn off exposing on of her breasts while the other is just barely covered by feathers...so some modifications were made. I found this spectacular fabric that was woven black and blue so that when the light hit it, it changed colors. The dress is a strapless dress that was serged as well as french seamed. It also pooled in the back so that I have a nice train the follows me. Feathers. Oh my. I don't want to see any feathers for quite some time. I have feathers on my arms as well as sewn to the dress itself. Each one was trimmed to a point and then HAND PAINTED 4 times to give it a gradiant color. On the dress, the feathers start dark at the base and get lighter towards the tip. The feathers on the wings are lighter at the base and get darker towards the tip. Each feather was hand sewn to the dress across the chest, up the slit and all the way around the hem of the dress. Wings. The wings were fun. The feathers were glued to some stiff interfacing to give them stability. I finagled myself some sleeves out of a stretchy material to which we glued the feathers to while I was wearing them. Then, while they were still on, the sleeves were painted to blend the real feathers into some fake ones to make the transition between flesh and feather seem more natural. Make up. So much make up. The fake eyelashes were put on to give a little bit of dazzle while also to help the overall look (I naturally have practically no eyelashes). The seeing third eye was painted on by my lovely Fuuma, Fireshark.
