About this Costume
Construction Details:
Lots and lots of hand beading on the scarves, lapel, and especially the belt. I really wanted to challenge myself with doing some detailed beading throughout this costume, and I have to say that the multi-colored, random belt is my favorite part of this costume. It's completely covered (hand-sewn) with seed and bugle beads, took me an entire summer of on and off work to complete, and I love how it turned out!

The coat was a modified Vogue pattern, that I added bias tape trim to, painted, and attached metallic gold frog closures to the front. I used chiffon for the sashes, and hand-beaded the fringe on each of those. The leggings were super easy and are made out of a thicker, cotton jersey. Very comfy! The shirt is a red knit. Very basic. The armor is a mix of model magic, polystyrene and craft foam. It was one of my first times making armor, so I played around with a lot of different materials to see what I could do. I could definitely improve, but it was a great learning experience!

The boots started out as a basic black ankle boot. I added the gold toe piece, and made the wing detail out of polystyrene and craft foam. I painted the boots as well, so that they would have a metallic sheen to them, rather than be solid black.

I made a barrette for my wig out of polystyrene and model magic, painted it gold, and added some beads. :P

I think that's it. :3
Personal Thoughts:
I really loved Anthologies. FF5 is easily one of my favorite FFs because of the small group of characters that are used in the game. You get a great feel for each of their personalities, and the job system is really a lot of fun to mess around with. Faris is definitely my favorite character, and the Amano artwork of her is to die for. It's a shame that there aren't more FF5 cosplayers running about, but I think that the lack of it makes it more appreciated! yay! FF5
