Construction Details:

2000 Commentary: With Halloween coming around, I wanted to do a whole new costume! Not only that...it was a great excuse to have another costume! Since my Japanese friends were going to do an Escaflowne cosplay for next AX, they suggested I do Merle. ^^ After watching the movie at AX 2000, I was like, "Sure why not?" It was a costume that could pass for Halloween...even if people didn't know who I was. =D This costume got me really self conscious...it was short, I had a tail...and kinda low! I think I'm a lil too "developed" for Merle, but it's a great costume either way. Well..the most obvious accessories for this costume would be the tail and the ears. The tail took a while to construct...I made the whole thing out of scratch. I actually constructed the tail twice...the first one was a prototype..and used to model the second one. The ears were hooked onto a headband I wore under the wig. As for the boots, I wish they were a darker color, but I added fabric to give them the fur lining look. For this costume, I got a pair of cat eye contacts, because I wanted a cattish look over the blue eyes Merle has. The bracelets were purchased and spray painted, along with the buckles on her dress. 2008 Commentary: I lost so much weight in this outfit too, I really wanted to get more wear out of it! I bet I still have it somewhere too. Maybe one day I will redo this costume.
