Personal Thoughts:

Mermaid Melody was one of the earliest series I ever read back when I was 10 and discovering manga for the first time. While I'm not as attached to the manga as an adult, I love the anime and still hope the lost ADV English Dub will one day get a proper release! I hum "Legend of Mermaid" almost everyday and feel a rush of dopamine every time I hear the ~7 Mermaid Version~ of the song!! As a kid, Hanon was my least favorite of the mermaid trio, but as an adult she's my favorite! I love Hanon's sass, how *extra* she is, plus her idol form was the cutest and frilliest!! This is a costume I've been wanting to make for several years now and I almost started it in 2020, but I'm glad I kept pushing it back because this project ended up being a huge undertaking and a ultra-sparkly labor of love! 90% of this costume was made while humming, singing, and blasting out the many songs from this series!! Despite listening to the same songs over and over for 11 months, I'm still not sick of the Mermaid Melody soundtrack and feel the urge to start singing from it whenever I see this costume! It's been a long time coming, but I'm glad I finally got to be a mermaid princess popstar!!
