About this Costume
Construction Details:

The shirt was made from a cotton shirting; the same brand as Rem but with a different pattern on it (because that's more fun!) I decided to draft the collar, cuff pieces and back are differently from Rem's shirt, according to references and some artistic interpretation. I went with a more "square" finish than Rem who was all pointy. The back still has darts but has a more conventional straight yoke with two box pleats. Like Rem's shirt, it's unlined but serged and every seam is topstitched.

I cut the edges of the sleeveless sweater off other thrifted sweaters. The white and navy blue fabrics are store bought stretch knits. It took two tries to get the white stripe around the neck to be the perfect size, but in the end I'm satisfied with it. The insides are serged so it wouldn't fray.

The coat is polyester with a lace overlay for added detail, and the same white polyester as lining. I had lots of fun making the little sleeve vents and buttons, it was my first time making such a proper men's jacket! Much like Rem, every button is functional and it has a welt pocket on the breast above the hand-embroidered emblem. There's two pockets in the side seams of the coat as well. The seaming on this coat is a little weird according to official art: the back seam stops at the waist, whereas the side seam starts at the waist and downwards... I did keep that detail for the back but I couldn't justify the side seams to myself so I brushed it off as character designer nonsense. The back also has two princess seams to accomodate the vents which I think is a cute touch. Unlike Rem, the top of the vents are handsewn down because the lace was so delicate, I kept my sewing machine away as much as possible. I did topstitch the collar piece since that was one of the most obvious details on official art though. I used the same blue vinyl for the cover buttons and the epaulettes (what are those even for?)

A big thanks to my mom who turned the polyester and lace straps I made for the belt loops inside out for me when I was too sick to do it... that was easily one of the worst part of the costumes aside from topstitching! They were handsewn on, I guess my handstitching is better than I thought since it perfectly held the locket

The belt itself is just a long tube of brown-ish leather. I didn't interface it in case I needed it to be stretchy but I think it should have since it ended up bunching a little in the back. The buckle was bought in Japan by my friend. I pierced the hole with my soldering iron and ended up handstitching the outside for safety.

The pants are slightly more loose than Rem's, and I added some interfacing at the bottom for the cuffs. They held up on their own perfectly! You can't see it when it's worn but it closes with a hidden zipper and a little rose-shaped button! I thought it was cute for Urie. It also has belt loops even though... he doesn't wear a belt with it. It was on the art okay I had to make it.

Personal Thoughts:
This was probably the biggest commission I've ever worked on, but it was pretty worth it seeing as we won two prizes! I made everything on thisav except the wig, locket and shoes.
