About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was made in about two months for Ohayocon 2018. The base of this costume is a steal boned corset and modified hoop skirt with petticoat. Even though you can???t see them in any of the photos I did make cotton bloomers. The bloomers have a detail strip of white on white flower printed cotton the side of the leg.
The underdress is a heavy bridal satin strapless dress lined in thing polyester. The scalloped hem was hand patterned and fully lined. The gems were 3D printed, sanded, and painted with three shades of gold acrylic paint to match the Excalibur handle. The blue bodice and skirt are made from satin and all the gold details were hand pattern transferred to gold brocade. They were then heat n' bonded onto the satin and satin stitched down. The bodice is also boned and lace up. There are also several tiny sword beads that were sewn onto the sleeves. The Sleeve hem and on the bodice as well as the key hole opening have two laces combined and covered with 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm rhinestones.
The armor is foam and worbla. All armor pieces were patterned by hand and shaped for a more form fitted looks. The gauntlets have screws and bolts in them by the wrist to help with movement. All the worbla was filled with wood filler then sanded and primed with a gray filler primer. Each piece was then spray painted with black gloss enamel paint and hand painted with three shades of silver.
The cape was made from blue upholstery suede and lined with a light polyester. The fur trim was craft fur that was hand sewn onto the cape. The cape stays in place with two buttons and a cord loop.
The sword is hand cut acrylic with a led in the base. The handle was made from wood and detailed in worbla. The worbla was also wood filled, sanded, gray filler primed, gloss black painted, then hand painted with 3 shades of gold paint. The handle was covered in matching blue upholstery suede from the cape.
Personal Thoughts:
I decided to remake my Saber with a bit more of a regal look. She???s my favorite Fate character and I felt she needed a bit more of a ???pow??? then her classic dress. I was heavily inspired by the Fate Stay Night Hyper Collection figure. I loved the details on the armor and more realistic look and felt the extra fabric details gave her that royal look. The only changes from the figure that I made was I went with a detailed brocade for the gold on the dress and extended the trim a bit. Overall I???m really happy with how this costume turned out.

Styling Notes
I took the ponytail out of the Jeannie and pulled some of the wefts to the front to extend the bangs. I sewed wefts into the side of the wig to replace the ones that were now part of the bangs. I then pulled the wig back into a pig tail trying to get it as smooth as possible on the wig head and would try it on myself to make sure it fit snug. This took several attempts before I was satisfied, but once I was I cut and stubbed the wig. I used wefts to cover a foam ball I had hollowed out and attached a thin braid also made from wefts to the bun. The bun was glued onto the wig and I added a ribbon bow clip to the back. For the ???fluff??? I took the semi curled end of the pony tail clip that came with the wig and sewed it tight. I added it to the front of the wig and styled it into shape.
