Construction Details:

This costume was deceptively hard.

The top was custom patterned and has a zipper up the side to avoid the buttons in the front from popping.

The hat was custom patterned by me, and made using playtex hat brim interfacing. All of the black stripes are ribbon sewn on to satin and then made into a snug cover for the hats.
The bows were made using two pieces of satin and heat and bond in the middle. The gold details are satin-stitched/embroidered.

The checker details on the skirt and bow are actually quilted. I opted to cut squares and quilt them myself as opposed to buying a spoon flower print as I wanted the blue to match the blue satin everywhere else. The cuffs on the boot are sewn to the pleather and the heel is covered in Yaya Han's metallic spandex.

The microphone is made of a plastic microphone I purchased on amazon. I broke the head off and glued it into a PVC pipe which I then built up with clay, sanded and painted. The stripes are painted masking tape that I cut into thin strips and layed in place like stickers!
