About this Costume
Construction Details:
Tiara: Gold iron on transfer, plastic core, beads and gems for findings and details

choker: lightweight interfacing, wrapped in lame. actual pendant is a scrapped earring for the center, with a small worbla cross as the base.

earrings: found buttons, of which the backings were clipped off and grinded smooth. nickle-free posts were affixed.

collar: lame top, satin underneath. two layers of fusible fleece interfacing were used to give it body. braided edge trim was hand colored using sharpie to achieve the right color. Top trim is a single trim (the green and silver center) glued on top of set together trim (the silver spirals on either side) for final look. Collar is fully attached, and integrated into the zipper and bodice itself. Pattern is unique, made by the PVC captain in charge of the group.

Sleeves: Sleeves are green 1/2" foam, encased in white neoprene. Because of a last minute lack of neoprene, the least visible layer of foam is actually covered in a blend fabric, double layered, to achieve the same look. Sleeve is fully attached to bodice, and trim was added to cover the seam itself. Gems on sleeve are glued on

Front Bow: Satin bow, with resin cast center gem surrounded using gold braid trim. Fully attached to front of costume

Bodice: White neoprene, made using a modified McCall's pattern. Refitted and added sleeves. white "belt" piece was patterned and added by hand. Bodice trim was originally attached with glue, then finished with a basting stitch in clear thread to secure. Waist trim is a rhinestone bridal trim, attached using same method as for the bodice details.

Gloves: Found item, purchased

Skirt: Skirts made using the same base pattern, adjusted once for the top shorter skirt. Bottom skirt is a glitter knit, lined with the same satin as used for the collar. Top skirt is made of same lame as the collar. Both skirts were pleated and pressed according to musical and measurements for myself. Skirts are basted together, then basted into the "v" shape needed to attach to skirt and cut, then attached to bodice. Top skirt is trimmed using a hard-sought match for the original stage trim.

Back Bow: Two different crepe back satins, to achieve the dual color look. Attached completely on one side to anchor, and a snap on the other side of zipper for easy in/out.
Shoes: Character shoes in a 1.5 heel used as a base. Coated in auto-vinyl in white in 3 coats, then 2 coats of green spray paint in semi-matte finish. Green satin ribbon used for crossing ties.
Personal Thoughts:
My spirit scout is really Sailor Mars, but for competing with Project Victory Cosplay Theatre in the Fanime 2016 Masquerade, we were instead cast by the group captain. Neptune was selected for me, and at the end of the road, I felt like I learned more about the character, and maybe identify more with Michiru than I thought at first.

Styling Notes
Two tracks of Aqua short wefts were glued into the wig using a lightweight flexible adhesive, and then stitched into place against the existing track for stability. Curls were combed out, recurled to incorporate the new color, and then rebrushed for texture.
