About this Costume
Construction Details:
These were a complete team effort in every sense of the word. All of the embroidery was vectored by SP and executed on K's machine. She had to spend an entire week babysitting the machine changing thread colors! The waist cincher patterns (including the scallop method) was done by DDN. K and I worked out the crazy shirt pattern. My skirt was made by SP. Most of the other details were worked out between the 4 of us over facebook. The hat I made from scratch based on a similar shaped beanie I have and I just kind of crossed my fingers that it worked. K mocked up the ear size/shape while I finished sewing my other stuff. The ears are stuffed with organza scraps since I was out of poly fill. Almost everything is made out of flannel so it attracts lint like crazy!
Personal Thoughts:
I was trying to cut back on idol costumes but true to form, Sparklepipsi pulled me into this just by standing in the room next to me. It was kind of last minute, so I was worried I wouldn't have enough time to finish, but made a deal that if she made my skirt then I could do the rest! Since Kaeatri already programmed in all the embroidery, we just had to make a little more of it for mine. Though I really had a struggle finishing due to the loss of one of my cats over the holidays, and I truly owe this costume to Sparklepipsi Kaeatri and DaydreamerNessa for helping me churn out the pieces over new years weekend. It was a very emotional time and I'm so thankful for their help and friendship and I'm so in love with this costume.
