About this Costume
Construction Details:
Natsu's costume was my first worbla armor project, which I've wanted to use for quite a while. This costume wasn't necessary hard per-se, but just really tedious and at some points became very repetitive (probably why I took forever making it :p).

The armor has 71 total worbla feather details that were made using a craft foam base with bugle beads or cut toothpicks to create the feather splays. Worbla was then applied on both the tops and bottoms of each feather. I used a sewing pin on the worbla, once it was affixed to the worbla, to make sure each splay in the feathers was defined. Each armor plate has a series of holes drilled in to mimic the lacing detail Natsu's armor has. The armor on my arms actually stays in place simply using the rope, while I had to use a system of snaps on my body suit along with straps to keep my hip armor on. In order to create a silhouette like Natsu's I made small pillows that velcro under my shoulder and hip armor. The pillows also helped alleviate some of the weight with my hip pieces, so they didn't pull too much on my suit.

The hawk faces that sit on the tops of my hands are my favorite item on my costume, even if they are a minor detail. I created the sculpt and mold, so that I could cast them using Smooth-On resin. I glued a piece of red felt on the back with snaps sewn on, so I can easily snap the faces in place on my gloves.

The suit, tabi socks, and sash was created using moleskin. I really loved this material! It's a nice thick spandex that was perfect for making Natsu's suit.

The waist piece, leg pieces, and harness was made using a lambskin leather. The waist piece is boned and stays in place using a system of snaps (Haha, my suit is covered in snaps).
