About this Costume
Construction Details:
I tried to get historically accurate fabrics as far as I could but that proved to be difficult since most of what historical fashion will tell you to get from this period is satin, silk, and linen for underthings since cotton was apparently illegal. But piece by piece:
rn
rnThe undershirt is made from 100% linen and is very heavy, with woven lace around the cuffs. The waistcoat fabric is a sateen I ordered from spoonflower because I couldn't find just the right pinstripe, and it unfortunately didn't print right and at the time I didn't have time to correct it. The jacket is two wools (periwinkle and black) with a faux suede with a pattern on the lapels/facing with custom grey bias made from the pants fabric on the edges. The shoulder-thing is made from pleather and sewn down with buttons. The bracers are made from the same pleather as well as a blue and button up.
rn
rnThe pants are really more like leggings (not historically accurate but those pants are definitely tight on her) that I made from a grey stretch suiting. The sash is a burgundy sateen. Both templar necklaces started as iron crosses. They were spraypainted gold and then the faces were painted red with nail polish (done by Chira when I was rushing). The jabot is a gathered lace hemmed with bias tape, and the rosette is a gathered ribbon held onto it with a button I painted a wine red. It attaches with a skinnier ribbon I tie at the back of my neck.
Personal Thoughts:
FIRST!!!!! I'm not sure if this costume was as much of a monster as it felt like or if I was just fatigued the whole time I was making it, but I'm so glad to be done. Vive la revolution, bitches
