About this Costume

This was an interesting costume to make.
The tie, shirt, and boots were purchased, but the rest were made by me. I had to go through two jackets before I finally made one that looked and fit right!
The hardest part was modifying a coat pattern for the kataginu style overcoat that he wears. I did all the embroidery custom on my machine, and stitched them on. The overcoat was made with cotton sateen and faux leather, and the underclothing was made from cotton twill to differentiate between the two.
The shackle style handcuffs were made with EVA foam, craft foam, and plastic chain, which was all then painted. The cuffs fasten with real brass bolts! I made the length of chain longer than is in canon for my own comfort.
The makeup I used for my makeup was from the Mehron theatrical line, and I layered browns, purples, and reds to give the sunken eye look. I also wore dark eyeliner and mascara to darken the eyes as well.
Taka, my hawk, actually makes a little sound like he did in the game, which was quite fun.
The wig was a Claudia from Arda in black, and a short bang piece also from Arda in white. I brushed the curls out into a big poof and tied it back, and stitched half of the bang piece onto the front of the wig for the shock of white. - Personal Thoughts:
- I really just loved Simon. And, being a fan of Japanese history and culture, I geeked out over all the samurai references in his design.
