Construction Details:

Kotori's casual clothes are a strange but fairly simple combination: first I made her sunflower hair accessories (which seem to vary in size in every reference :_D) with plastic house sunflowers bought at a local store, and painted the leaves one by one to achieve that orange-y pink. I then bought her pink sweatshirt, added the lace trims and changed the hoodie cord. The skirt was a little bit of a pain since it was kind of hard finding the appropriate royal tartan check pattern in the right color, but I managed to find a similar one. I then patterned and made the ruffled circle skirt myself, dyeing all the parts with a burgundy tone before finishing it and I must admit it looks pretty similar to the original! It has a bought underskirt which gives it more 'fluff' :3 (I also added a lace trim to the underskirt). I was lucky to find similar knee-high boots, to which I added a velvet ribbon as a decoration. The adorable Chibimoth plushie everyone loves was made by my boyfriend *^^* (same as with my CLANNAD dango XD).

Personal Thoughts:

This was the first costume I made after moving to Japan! ^o^ I didn't expect to start cosplaying seriously so soon, but after attending a small but awesome Key-only event with my boyfriend in our Natsume siblings costumes, we decided to bring new ones to the next. Since I had the pleasure to finish reading Rewrite before coming here and I loved the absurdly funny but loving and Kotori and her tear-jerking past, I actually thought about cosplaying her before moving, and I figured I could manage doing her casual clothes in my small amounts of free time and without spending too much money (the beautiful but extremely complicated school uniform was out of the question ^^u). It helped that my boyfriend and Spanish friends gave me a sewing machine for my birthday!

Kotori, and Rewrite itself, are not very well-known outside of Japan for the lack of an animated adaptation, but I hope someday it gets one so that more people can enjoy this well-rounded story, mix of different genres and great characters! :3

Styling Notes

Loosened the curls with hot water, trimmed the bangs and side-bangs, made the braids, styled the ahoge and added the sunflowers :3

Wig Review

I was very lucky to find this beautiful wig in a Maple sale near my Japanese school! (sadly, that meant it closed soon afterwards T_T). The only letdown is that the fibers get a little bit coarse after wearing the wig, but it's really nice anyway.
