About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Gwen was one of the costumes I should have held off until I knew more. Anyway, Im still proud of her. rnrnHer ‘skirt’ is a tiny hoop skirt, made from pleather, with cardboard in each ‘pleat’. Fully lined and boned corset. Headset is made from styrene ( crown part ) while the ‘earmuffs’ are cardboard base, chicken wire frame, then individually hand glued feathers. Leg armour is a mix of styrene and craftfoam, joints held together with elastic to give them give and lets them move with my leg joints. rnrnWings are made into 4 sections. The middle section which goes against the small of my back, is hard wood, with the second sections are from light wood, bolted to the middle wood, and hinged so they swing out and fold up- the larger section is cardboard base. All covered in chicken wire frame. Then hand glued, over 2000 feathers to both sides. Spear is made from perspex sheets, with a torch hidden inside so it lights up once the button is pressed.
- Personal Thoughts:
- UGHrnrnentered in the 2012 Wellington Armageddon competition, winning a technical award
