About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Patterning was fairly simple, since all Japanese garments are more or less straight lines. 85% of the seams on this are french seamed, and the other 15% were zig-zag overlocked and finished because of some measurement errors, so there are no raw edges anywhere. The squares on the outer kimono were heat & bonded, then appliqued down. The obi and obiage were also made from scratch.
The scythe was constructed from a wooden pole, chain, styrofoam ball, and various types of cardboard. The blade was built around a broom handle attachment, so it can be unscrewed and removed from the pole for ease of travel and plot reasons. - Personal Thoughts:
- I'll finally cosplay Kamatari, I said. It won't be that hard, I said.
If you ever think that ironing down 13 feet of 1 ft wide interfacing is a good idea, do yourself a favor and punch yourself.
Wig Details

- Medium Layered
- Original Color:
- Purple black
- Styling Time

- Styling Notes
- Layered bangs into it and sprayed the bottom to tease it out. A pretty easy style.
- Wig Review
- I'd prefer a more accurate wig for him, but this one did okay for a first run.
