About this Costume
Construction Details:
Everything in the dress is based on circles. The yellow bodice was drafted by me with basic darts for fitting, and the yellow skirt is a square with a circle waist that was cut off center to achieve a subtle high-low hem and has several pleats at the back behind the flowers; I used Joann's casa satin for this section and the sheer dotted layer is from the same collection. This dress also has a simple corset lacing for added fit (but it was mostly because I love corset backs :D)

The black skirt layer is my favorite piece ever! It's just layer upon layer of black organza circles cut off center and attached together in an elastic waistband. The hems were cut on a dress form to get the exact look I wanted, then the whole millions of yards of fabric were melted with a candle to finish off the edges but keep everything light and floaty!

The flowers on the bodice and waist are made from gathered black chiffon and netting and have small pearls and rhinestones glued to their centers.
The black skirts have metallic stars and rhinestones glued on as well.

All the jewelry was hand molded from sculpey clay and painted gold and sparkly to get that princess-y feel, and my forehead moon attaches with spirit gum.
Personal Thoughts:
This is definitely one of my favorite costumes to wear; I just feel like such a princess!
