About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I used my old Ciel costume as a kinda pattern for the jacket but made the train of the jacket not as wide so I could fit the lining fabric in better. The TARDIS interior lining was bought from Spoonflower as I sadly do not have enough artistic skill to actually create the design myself. But I really wanted a "bigger on the inside" bit for when I flared the coat out.
I used my embroidery machine to make the "Open to Pull" and "St John" emblems on the coat front. I also embroidered the "Police Box" logo on the banner of the hat. I'm not too happy with the hat. It was meant to be a top hat but I totally goofed with the size and its a bit too short. Its also really frumpy. x_x;; I may try to remake it at some point. - Personal Thoughts:
- I wanted to do something for the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who for Dragon*Con and to be honest, as much as I love the whole cast of the show, none of the characters really jump at me as someone I want to cosplay. So instead I started playing with the idea of doing a TARDIS design. But I wanted to do something a little different from what I normally see people do for their designs. So I went with a more "me" concept, a bit of dandy style TARDIS. Because this is totally the type of clothing I love to wear. XD I went with a bow tie to honor the 11th Doctor while I went with the 10th's TARDIS design for the interior.
