Information on Lucina Costume:

Three layers of foam board, glued together (except the handle is attached on separately because the board was not long enough). I sanded the edges for a beveled look. At first I did a layer of house paint because I thought it would be the same effect as gesso. Boy was I wrong. I decided to use whatever I had in the house... which was a bucket of SPACKLE! I slammed that sucker on, but apparently not enough because there are bumps everywhere, but I sanded to the best of my ability. Afterwards, I spray painted the sword blade next, then painted the handle metallic red. I took the sword back inside and created the designs with craft foam, which I then glued on with hot glue and painted over with glue and water (to seal it) before applying acrylic. I used a mixture of black and brown to give the designs more definition.

The scabbard was made by wrapping the sword with paper and taping cardboard (the nice thin kind) to create the general shape. Then I simply glued red fabric all around it. After that, I used 3d puffy paint to go around the gold edges for both definition and ease to paint on the gold section. Took a brown permanent marker and went around the edges to make it look like it was sewn.

THE END!
Personal Thoughts:
First weapon ever!! I'm pretty proud of it, since afterwards i've been able to make weapons pretty easily stepwise!
