Construction Details:

I made all of the white parts out of ivory crepe-backed satin. For the sailor collar, I cut out two "collars". I sewed the ribbon stripes on the top one first, and then sewed the two halves together. After that, Emily took over bedazzling the ever living crap out of it. We took some apparel liner and superglued it to the edges of the collar to make the "tie". For the base of the shirt, I cut up an old T-shirt of mine to use as a pattern; Emily is about 1.5 sizes smaller than me, so it was perfect for the slightly baggy fit. I patterned the sleeves myself, and those were also bedazzled courtesy of Emily after I sewed the ribbons on. We got a spool of casa ribbon with rhinestones that was like $7 for just a yard!! I patterned the skirt on my own. I sewed on both the ribbons and the sparkly sequin strip after hemming a 60" rectangle, and then Alex box pleated it to fit the waistband, which is just a strip of fabric cut to the width of her waist folded in half. There is an invisible zipper in the back. Emily made the headband herself by wrapping leftover fabric from her tie around a black headband and bedazzling that as well. She had these adorable patent leather mary jane heels for a little while, but she swapped them out for sparkly chucks so it was a little more comfortable for her.

Personal Thoughts:

I made this outfit for my dear darling friend Emily for her first convention. She feels naked in this, but I think she looks precious.
