About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Started: Aug 2009rnCompleted: Sept 2009rnrnWorn at: Anime Oasis 2011, CCLoEP Photoshoot April 2012rnrnParts Made: Everything but the shoes and TabirnrnNew Skills: screen printing, block printingrnrnAwarded: First Place (Group) - Anime Oasis 2011rnrnBabble:rnMaterials for this costume were as much created as purchased. The pants are linen that I screen-printed with gold ink to create the checkerboard pattern. The outer robe has prints from a linoleum block that I carved by hand from the reference material.rnThe whole concept of the costume was slightly broken things, symbolic of the slow decay of Kiyomori's house and family. The lavender layer jaquard has broken china on it, the block printing is all unique and none are totally perfect, and the same is true of slight variation in the screen printing.rnThe yellow outer robe is fully lined and one of the most neatly finished things I've ever completed.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Made originally for the lovely Anarin for NDK 2009 but never worn until it was and later purchased and worn by Cal for Anime Oasis 2011.So many things about this costume were new tequniques and things I was proud of and many more could still use work. We had the perfect wings created before Nan Desu Kan, but the attachment system was never completed and the movement demanded by our Anime Oasis performance meant that they were not to be.
