Construction Details:

Upholstery grade corduroy, suedecloth, faux fur, spandex.

THIS TOOK ME FOREVER TO MAKE. So I made the first purchases and pieces on this costume in 2010. At that time I made the bias tape for the piping as well as a preliminary attempt (being generous) at tights and got the main body of the tunic cut. And then it sat there until 2012. In 2012 some friends inspired me to pick it back up, and here it is now!

Hat is in four panels, fully lined, with covered craft foam brim and suedecloth ear flaps. Topper is Sculpey with a snap to hold it in place. Capelet was the most work-intensive part of this. Six pieces, hand-drafted. Flowers are suedecloth, with each piece constructed inside out, then slip stitched closed and hand sewn to the capelet. Tunic is a standard dress pattern, shortened and with piping added. Hand hemmed faux fur trim. All spandex is serged. Leg covers zip up the back and are sewn to the tights.

Belt buckle and Stand were made by my father.

Personal Thoughts:

I love this nun.
This costume is the reason I got into sewing in the first place, and I am so happy it's done and together and that it turned out as nicely as it did.

Styling Notes

Original wig was much longer, and a friend cut it on my head for length. I trimmed up the bangs by several inches and evened out the bob.

Other than being a little thin, it's a good cap size and wears comfortably.
