About this Costume
Construction Details:
FEATHERS AND WOODEN BEADS GALOREEEEE

Eyemask: made from a plaster gauze mould of my face, built up with wire mesh (for shape) and then paperclay. Painted with acrylics. It's held on with leather string and a crap load of bobby pins. The dagger is also made the same way, although the base is wooden. The handle was a dowel wrapped with leather scrap and leather string for accents.

Cape: 1yd of faux fur (I wish I could have found a longer pile). Hood was patterned from a Vicky's Secret hoodie with an extra large hood. I did make San's "ears" that she has on her hood, but I ended up getting rid of them in favor for some bead accents. The cape is lined and then I added more bead and feather accents to the "tail".
Cape is extremely heavy and is attached to me by strings that go in through my shirt and wrap multiple times around the chest.

Boots: I made the moccasins that are the base for the shoes and covered them with extra faux fur. My grandfather was a pretty big hunter so my mom had some extra deer hide laying around so I fashioned the covers of my boots from that. The shoes DEFINITELY need to be remade before I wear her again tho. ><

Acessories: made from leather string, metal rings from the craft store, and more beadsssss.

For my first costume I'm pretty pleased with how it came out although there's a few things that I would fix up before wearing her again.
:D
Personal Thoughts:
Princess Mononoke has always been one of my favorite Miyazaki movies, and being my first costume making experience, I wanted something that was pretty easy to make.
I personally hate San's outfit (lol) and I wanted to make it more my own instead of aiming for 100% accuracy.
San has always struck me as a very tribal character and I wanted to accentuate that and make her feel more realistic.
