About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was such a labor of love, gosh, simply because there are so many pieces. Because of the nature of Homestuck's designs, I took some creative liberties with the outfit. I added sleeves to a tank top I already had for the undershirt, making the necesarry design modifications to the sleeves and also adding a zipper in the back to make it easier to put on. I also took in the tank top to make it tighter to my body. The black leggings were purchased. I drafted the pattern for the awkward onsie/tunic/thing/whatever-you-want-to-call-it/Psiioniic-what-are-your-fashion-choices from scratch and custom fit the whole thing throughout the process. The fabric for the arm/leg cuffs were dyed to a darker gold shade. I ended up having to pin-shir the cuffs when sewing in order to make sure the fabric would mantain its stretch, which was rather time consuming. The face plate was crafted from tin foil and craft foam which I first covered in fabric, but later removed the fabric from and painted for a less bulky look. The horns were crafted from a tin foil core covered in model magic, sanded, gessoed and painted.
Personal Thoughts:
All in all a rather tricky costume to make, but I'm pleased with the result and it was worth every second! I really love the Psiioniic as a character, and was determined to make a costume for him that would look cool and I wouldn't feel totally ridiculous wearing, which I think I accomplished. The crowning glory of this costume was getting to wear it with my Team Singless babes, I love you all. ;A;
