About this Costume
Construction Details:
We sort of collaborated on the costumes. I made all of the padding items (shoulder, elbow, arm, hand & gloves, thigh, shin & knee), as well as pattern the middle piece (which we so eloquently called the "tubnic"). Then we each made our own tubnic, shirt, turtleneck, pants, and sash. Discordantkettle graciously covered all the tabi boots with the appropriate red fabric.

We had to dye about half of the fabric we bought. Discordantkettle discovered leather dyes, which was great for tinting the red vinyl we had. She also worked magic dyeing the elastic, as well as the the red for the tubnic and instructed me on how to dye the bias tape and piping. Whew!

The designs are kind of silly in reality, so some of the pieces we just pinned to ourselves, hahahah.
Personal Thoughts:
I was attracted to the Fire Ferret uniforms the moment I saw them maybe because they are red. And originally wanted to make this before making Mako's default outfit. Things got switched around, but whatever.

I am so so glad I got to do this with my former roommate discordantkettle, because she loves Bolin and fits him so perfectly! I haven't gotten to cosplay with her in years, so I am very glad we could be bending brothers together!

We hope to do another photoshoot with more complete costumes in a more appropriate place in the future!
