About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume has a lot of layers. The pants are made from cotton duck that I ordered off of Amazon.com. I am pleasantly surprised how well this fabric worked out (though I wish the diamonds were larger). It's heavier than I'd expected and very stiff, but I don't need to iron it at all! The shirt is white poplin and is the same basic pattern as Masako's shirt. The vest is cotton broadcloth. The club-shaped cravat is stretch sateen.

The coat is my favorite part; it's three patterns spliced together into a crazy CLAMP monstrosity. The shell is black stretch sateen, with kona cotton bias tape (which I made) and applique, and red stretch sateen for the collar and cuffs. Did I mention that I love the applique on the back? It's my favorite part of this whole thing.

The hat was made with the same basic technique as my Tyki hat, using plastic needlepoint sheets and a lot of interfacing. I purchased the roses and the green grass and hot-glued them onto the hat.

The cane was painted with acrylic paint, and I purchased the gloves from Amazon. (I am done making gloves for a while!)
Personal Thoughts:
Wearing a costume the day the OVA comes out? Priceless.
