About this Costume
Construction Details:
After finishing the Kasumi costume I knew Ayane would be the next DOA girl costume I wanted to make. I have always liked her violet hair and her deep purple outfits. Something about the character, whether it be her stern feelings towards Kasumi or her snot nose attitude, makes her stand out amongst the rest of the DOA girls.

The hardest part of this costume was actually locating that very deep purple shade of fabric. I pretty much had to take what I could find in that color. It happened to be a nice light weight satin.
I had purchased the red brocade when it was on sale, I knew I would need alot of it due to the large bow.
The obi and bow are both interfaced with buckram interfacing. It is a very sturdy interfacing and I knew it would hold it's shape well with the giant bow. The bow is removable and snaps onto the back of the obi. The yellow decor on the obi is cord piping and yellow cord glued onto the center.

The dress and arm bands are the purple satin. They are both lined with a light purple satin (the lining matches the wig). The bias tape trim around the bottom of the dress was made of the left over brocade I had from the obi and bow.
The head wrap is also purple stain with heavy weight interfacing in the last 7 inches of each end. This helps it stay in place without flopping around when it's tied.
The butterfly on the dress is a pink applique I found at a fabric warehouse. The butterfly has sequins and even an upper layer of wings that stand out.

I also made boot covers out of the purple satin. Ayane wears shoes that match her dress perfectly. The only way I could achieve that is by making boot covers out of the same fabric the dress was constructed from.
The thigh high stockings were bought from an online store that specializes in all types of stockings for costumes. They were already the nice grape purple I needed. Oddly enough in all the reference shots Ayane's stockings are a slightly different shade of purple then her dress.
All the photo's from this first set are done by IcePhoenix.
Personal Thoughts:
I still need to wear this costume to a convention. The giant bow does make it a little tricky to navigate in tighter crowds.
Ayane is my second favourite DOA girl and I have always loved this outfit of hers. I don't know if I will make any other Ayane costumes. Only time will tell XD I do like her outfits from Ninja Gaiden.

Willow
Original Color:
violet

Styling Notes
The wig was one I purchased from Cosworx, Willow in shade violet. The wig was all one length and I cut the bangs into it and fluffed them out. I also trimmed the wig so it would sit just above my shoulders.
Wig Review
The wig fibers are so soft it feels like silk! It was very easy to style but due to it's ultra soft texture the wig fibers actually slip around alot while trying to cut it.
