About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The main dress has a 8 boned bodice, to keep shape underneath all the guts and tentacles, with a simple circle skirt with two petticoats to keep it's shape.
The dress is meant to be made of guts, tentacles, and other macabre things. Most of the tentacles are made of stuffed stockings that were hand painted. Some of the smaller one's were random foam pieces I found in Lowes. I think an entire craft section of glue was used to get different slime textures.
I personally love the eye! It's got a little heart for a iris! I like being crafty and cheap....so it's simply 1/2 of a easter egg that I painted and sealed. Same with the eye on the back bow.
I'd like to think it's a work in progress since I have plans to add more tentacles and slime in the future!
A Bonus feature is the Vorpal Cleaver, another DLC weapon. For what it is I am pleased (i.e- made in a day and finished in the hotel room...oops.) Maybe one day when I'm more familiar with prop making, I'll remake it.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This costume is based off the DLC Fleshmaiden Dress for Alice to wear in the American McGee Sequel--Alice: Madness Returns.
I've been a fan of American McGee's Alice ever since the first game years ago....so it was no surprise that I would love the sequel. The only problem with the Alice: Madness Returns are there are too many fantastic costumes to chose from! I thought that the Fleshmaiden dress was not only great design, but a interesting challenge.
