About this Costume
Construction Details:
The armor is made of craft foam with a skin of leatherette. I skinned the trim with a flexible and sand-able mix of gesso and mod podge. This allowed me to achieve a smooth surface as well as give a seamless look over the darts. This also sealed the foam so I went onto paint with a few coats of varnish.
My hair ordainment is scupley.
I used a ton of superglue. The PVC glues I had would not stick to leatherette and I didn't have time to experiment with other glues.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume took me a full semester with a full load to complete. It is quite difficult to wear. I have to be assisted with putting it on, particularly the straps the hold on the pauldrons and the yoke (the piece that goes over my shoulders). The skirt also made it difficult to sit. But still fun to wear!
