About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The basic costume was pretty easy to make. I finally overcame my fear of knits and made a black turtleneck. The jolly roger and the yellow and blue are appliqued on with satin stitched edges, further killing any fear of knits I might have had. I used soft suiting as stabilizer. The little black lines on the yellow stripes are stitched as well.
Other noteable milestones for me on this costume: the buckles are my first time casting anything! I sculpted the original out of sculpey, made a silicone mold, and then cast with a two part plastic (oomoo) which was then sanded and painted. The buckles attach to the belts with screws sunk into the backs.
The holsters were also new for me, made of plastic canvas and tupperware covered in upholstry vinyl. They're lined with a felt-like material.
The weapons currently are place-holder props, with better props currently underway. I'm also hoping to finish Tori-san to carry with me.
The make up: to do the scar I used eyeliner pencil and rigid collodion. - Personal Thoughts:
- Representing the Old School! Most of the photos are v2.0 - I'm already planning upgrades for v3.0!

- Styling Notes
- This is the second wig I've tried styling. I trimmed the wig shorter and then razor combed the front. I'm experimenting with different techniques for styling at the con; I'm determined to get the 80s poof. I think with v2.0, I'm halfway there.
