Construction Details:

In 2008, this was my biggest construction project yet!

The patterns for the bodies were made by altering existing patterns for one-piece pajamas. I made the arms and legs shorter and stumpier, and made the body rounder and fuller. The arms and legs were lined with insulating foam so they would retain their shape, and the belly was lined and stuffed to the brim with polyfill. I can't even remember how many bags we used to fill both bodies.

The heads were made with foam tubes (I think it was something called pipe foam?) and chicken wire, and held together with vast amounts of gorilla glue. I then used white felt to cover the whole thing, except for a hole in the back, where we attempted to install a ventilation fan. It didn't work so well. Again, a stupid costume to wear in July, but nonetheless tons of fun!
