About this Costume
Construction Details:
I decided sometime after the fact of our Geass costumes that I wanted to make this to wear to the Sweets Castle shoot at WCS. I had originally set my heart on velvet, but settled for a black synthetic stretch suiting that I didn't hate for the base dress. The gold is all the same gold taffeta and lame tape that Ali had used for her Zero costume. I managed to find a white taffeta with a gold cross grain that matched the gold taffeta almost perfect, so I used that for the sashes.(I don't know what to call those things, tails? runners?)Ali's tape was pretty finicky, she had sewn all of hers down by hand. I didn't have time for that, so luckily selah saved my ass and made a 1/8 double sided tape that I was able to use for the trim. In the process of constructing this costume we learned that apparently plastic can be RIT dyed, so the green jems are all custom colored. The round jewels are a combination of Things I Found In The Fashion District And Painted, and Things I Ransacked By Pulling Apart My Grandmother's Old Costume Jewelry. For this costume I owe a big thank you to my mother, who came and sewed on jewels and snaps and hooks the night before I left, and my father, who made the headdress for me.
Personal Thoughts:
I really enjoyed wearing this! It's an interesting costume, because it feels like I'm kind of undercover when I'm standing or walking, and then as soon as I sit down and fan out the dress it suddenly becomes a showstopper.
