About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The costume was entirely constructed by myself (sans the hat, blouse, socks, and shoes which were of course store bought) in about 4 days. I am really proud of my tailoring on this one. I'd never made a blazer before, but I'm incredibly happy with the results. The lining was added a con later, as I had time crunch issues approaching the first con I wore this to. Blazer and shorts are made from a twill material. Bowtie was made from a kona cotton.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Where do I even start? This costume... I guess prepare for WALL OF TEXT guys. Because, you know, Earthbound. And my heart doth floweth over with love for this series.
flashback...back...back...
Earthbound was always something I was aware of. I'd had friends whom liked it and bugged me to play. But lacking an SNES or the time to even go about playing it had thus prevented me. I became decidedly more aware of it's fan following when news of the Mother 3 patch was brewing as well. Once the patch actually hit though, that's when I got more curious. ~skei (Sam), being a giant Mother nerd, is the one whom takes blame for getting me into it. Back in March she had shown me a fancomic on Starmen.net called "Office Bound" . I didn't get it, but it was really funny. And there were these dudes who had implied bromance. And it was also funny. Then you have Sam telling me how if she were to ever cosplay from Earthbound, she would definitely be Jeff and all this other junk about how she loves the series. Then she adds how I could, you know, maybe be her Tony. I didn't think much of it. But no less than 2 months after that conversation I'm bawling my eyes out at the end of Mother 3.
This costume was also the comfiest thing I've ever made. Possibly one of the most fun I've had wearing too. Because making people jump up and down in their seats and nearly cry from happiness because not only did you cosplayed from an incredibly under appreciated series but you also cosplayed a character who is never cosplay? PRICELESS.
ALSO, SAM AND I HAVE MATCHING SHOES. SERIOUSLY. GAAAAAAY.
I love Earthbound/Mother 2. I love Itoi. I love Sam as well. Also Toof for Office Bound.
