About this Costume
Construction Details:
I have always been a big fan of HTK's artwork, but wanted something a bit different and more challenging than Cal's original design for ToB so I went with this one. Added the tail to the wig, that's really all that was special there. Jacket is made of leftover pleather from my Zima (Chobits) costume with the details painted on with 3 or 4 layers of acrylic paint mixed with a textile medium. Jacket was patterned from scratch and painted details were kept standard all over by use of stencils. Sleeves are Casa satin with horsehair braid in both the top and bottom in an attempt to make them hold their round shape. Fur was bought as white and black fur then the white was spray-dyed with acrylic paint to match the rest of the oranges as close as possible. Pants are also patterned with panels inserted into the pleats to make them flare a bit like the artwork. "underpants" things on the bottom are lined in yellow to accent the gradients on the jacket. Shoes are made from scratch from insulation foam (which didn't work out so well because of compression), vinyl and foamies. Nail heads were painted black and run into the shoes for the details on the bottom portion Sword was made using Featherweight's cardboard sword technique as a basis but then was covered in lexan plastic sheeting (.015) for smoothness and durability. Details added in Paperclay and Sculpey. Aaand I'm sure I forgot something here...
Personal Thoughts:
Zooooommmggg painting. Need to do a simpler costume to take a bit of a break after tackling this monstrosity.
