Construction Details:

Costume debuted at Anime Iowa 2008, won Honorable Mention in Presentation: Master Class at Costume Con 27 (Baltimore, Maryland). Dress is set on a historical pannier from Corsets and Crinolines. I played around with the shape a bit by adjusting the stay-tapes, the shape is a little more circular in back like the anime. The underskirt is cream duchesse satin with a forepart of hand-dyed gold habotai. The over dress is one piece. The corset is sewn into the bodice. The orange skirt is a changeable orange-and-black dupioni silk. The bodice and skirt polonaise is a polyester drapery fabric that had a lovely color and a slight chenille pattern to give the dress depth. The hair is mine in front, with a hairpiece in back. I also made the necklace and hairbows out of matching ribbon and the purple bracelets. I modified my fan to match the anime by painting it old gold. The earrings were made to match by a friend.
