About this Costume

This costume has been in the works for years. I started it in 2005 and wasn't able to finally get it where I wanted it until 2007. The belt and the shoes are my favorite part. The shoes soles are completely accurate to Eds. I was able to carve the sole of the original boots out, and then add a sole of my own with the little ovals on the heel and at the ball of the foot. My wig was custom dyed with a sharpie(merigold) and the color is slightly faded for a more realistic turn as opposed to "yellow" hair. The little twig of a bang is held up with aquanet hairspray! The belt is another one of my favorite parts. I decided to stitch it in white since most of the time in real life belts have a lighter decorative stitching. The snaps for the belt loops are functional and the watch is able to be removed from the belt when I need to put the costume away! My jacket is made of Robe Velour and is virtually indestructable. It repels dirt and mud all by itself(Tested and proven. The dirt litterally just falls off!) which I think is very convienient! The symbol on the back was cut out of black fabric and appliqued on, then top stitched so the symbol wouldnt fall off in the wash(should it need to be). Edward Elric is my favorite character to cosplay as by far. No other costume has felt more 'perfect' for me and more rewarding in the end. There is so much love for the series that every time I get into this costume, the experience is nothing 'short' of awesome!
