About this Costume
Construction Details:
On the one hand, I'm proud of some of the technique I accomplished. I've never made a suit before and I did some new things with the shirt, too. The shirt styling is a reconstruction of the Victorian period bosom front look, but in cotton sateen fabric. The jacket and pants are cotton twill (because wool is death in California). The jacket is fully lined in polyester poly-lining. The vest is made of metallic brocade and crepe-back satin, faced, and lined in poly-lining. The contrast stripe on the pants is an appliqued strip of crepe-back satin because I couldn't find any ribbon in the right shade of grey.

The pants have hip pockets and welted back pockets. The vest has real welt pockets. The breast pocket on the jacket is fake because it was faster and I was running out of time.

Technically it's not even done - I didn't have time to decorate the hat or make gloves, and the jacket is missing a few details. I definitely don't consider this my best work, either. I want to remake the majority of it. The fit could be massively improved and there's a lot I don't like about the jacket. But eh, I guess it came out okay for my first suit and I learned a lot from the process.
Personal Thoughts:
I need the Kuroshitsuji manga like I need air. But the anime can suck it.

I made this for a Noah's Ark Circus masquerade group that I was invited to do, and that was my favorite arc of the manga, so I was really excited to do the project.

Styling Notes
Other than being a little long at the back of the neck, the style was pretty good as-is. I trimmed it down to make it shorter and then just arranged the bangs with my fingers.
