Cosplayer Lyn Hargreaves > Costume of Utena Tenjou from Revolutionary Girl Utena
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I need to fix quite a bit of this up as I was short on time and had to cut around the edges on a few parts, mainly the "bling". Most of it was made of model magic and some of it fell apart on me at the con so I have to remake them. The jacket itself was fun, even if I almost made it too tight in the front (I'm not used to not binding dammit!). The sword is wood and detailed with model magic. The first ring I had was just a super ghetto model magic one I made for temporary use. Bought a resin one via an artist on DeviantArt but sadly misplaced it before the con so still haven't gotten to wear it. x_x;
- Personal Thoughts:
- This is my first time EVER cosplaying a girl so it was kinda a big deal for me. I've always loved Utena dearly. She's my favorite female character and I've actually always wanted to cosplay her since I started but never got around to it. So figured it was about damn time I did. It was a little nerve-wrecking just 'cause I think I make a horrible girl and I'm not used to showing so much leg and not having my chest bounded down. But it was kinda nice to wear something comfortable (until the model magic started breaking x_x;;).
- Styling Notes
- Actually cut the wig myself. The wig originally had no bangs so I cut bangs into it and made all the various layers. Its not the best job but I'm still pretty happy with it considering I usually ruin wigs.
