Cosplayer Saravana > Prop of Fai D. Flowright / Yuui from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
About this Prop
- Construction Details:
- Made from foamcore, acrylic cabochons, glass floral beads, narrow plastic piping, heavy-duty plumbing attachments (so I could detach the top and bottom for travel), a wooden curtain rod, and a weird mirrored gem thing that my sister-in-law had lying around (I ran out of time to make the accurate jewel, and then I got attached to its disco nature).
Pictures 4, 5, and 6 show some in-progress pictures while I was making it. First, I cut out the basic form out of foamcore, then spaced it apart with layers of foamcore stacked and glued together (#6). I used those spacers as support for the wire holding up the center gem as well as the tubing. Next, I filled in the sides with electrical tape (#5). Then I spray painted the whole thing and attached the gems (#4). Later (because I ran out of time), I added the details with 3-D paint. Voilà.
- Personal Thoughts:
- My first prop, made for Anime Expo 2005. This was really, really hard- I didn't really know what I was doing, and the finished product was VERY heavy and rather fragile. I sometimes think about remaking it- I know what I'd change, and the finished product would be vastly superior. But I doubt I'll be wearing this version of Fai again. :(
